KOEH 108.3 FM
Dipperville lies in the hill country of SE Minnesota
deep in the heart of frack sand country
and 10 miles from Hoopdeville.
The town lies in a hollow on the banks of Dipper Creek
and all external FM radio and TV signals pass overhead
unheard and unseen.
Twenty years ago,
the Dipperkripp family
came to the rescue
with a license to launch the town's first
and, to-date, only radio station,
KOEH 108.3FM.
The rest is history.
or is it?
"The rest is history" is what media people and
philosophers say but, we, the townsfolk of Dipperville say
history is for idle talk at the Dairy Queen.
We like to think that the proper phrase is...
the rest is imagination.
Uff da!

antenna crop1Overseas listeners are taking drastic action to improve KOEH reception. We received this photograph from, Dryden, who listens on the web from his home in Northamptonshire in the UK. The photograph shows some of his neighbors (neighbours over there) erecting a mast to improve FM reception from Dipperville.

According to Dryden, they ignored his assertion that FM reception is line of sight and the antenna would have to be hundreds of miles high to pick up the signal, because of the Earth being round, you know. His neighbors said that this was just the beginning of the project and they were going to go as high as it takes and he should come back in a month or so. Even then, explained Dryden, what with tropospheric attenuation clear reception would be sporadic at best. Our brains glazed over at this point but we get the idea.

Fingers McGee thinks we're being dupped. The sky is too blue for the UK, he says.

Send us your photographs of your neighbors' efforts to improve KOEH reception.

In cooperation with the Dipperville weekly, The Star Trombone, we publish here selected news stories which tickle our fancy and drive (or should drive) the shows. However, there is a problem: the Star Trombone's news is always old and we need to know what will happen almost before it happens. So mostly we just make it up and hope for the best. We attribute our stories to no one, charge no aggregation fees, and encourage their distribution across the world wide web so that confusion may reign and truth shine through (Fingers, please untangle this and then post).
